The Rooster fight was organized yesterday illegally in the NaaluKaalKuttai area, which is located next to K.Paramathi in Karur district. More than 50 people joined the gambling, and knives were tied to cocks legs in order to conduct the rooster fight.

Unexpectedly, 30-year-old Murugesan from Nedungoor was hit by the knife in one of the cocks during the fight and prone to injury in his right thigh. The K.Paramathi Police immediately arrived at the spot hearing the crime accident and took Murugesan to the Karur Government Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctor reported that the man lost he breathe a few hours back due to the excessive blood flow in knife piercing through the thigh.

Rooster fights are one of the popular traditional games like Jallikattu, which is played all around Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu during Sankranthi festivals. The main reason for the rooster fight ban is due to the Violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act by the Supreme court with more betting and gambling.

Apart from the present death of Murugesan, recently, several people have been arrested in Karur district for the illegal organizing of cockfights, but the crime continues more in Karur and Chinnadharapuram district due to the CoVid lockdown.
