NIA summoned Zeliang for funding Terrors during his period.
The National Investigation Agency had summoned the former Chief Minister of Nagaland T R Zeliang for funding National Social Council of Nagaland (NSCN) a banned militant organization operating in the North Eastern States of India.
In 2017, the NIA has arrested four government officials for their contribution in funding terrorists. Now the NIA had summoned T R Zeliang, who was succeeded by Neiphiu Rio of National Democratic Progressive party in the recently closed polls in Nagaland. The NIA ordered Zeliang to present in the NIA headquarter on Tuesday, reports from the officials confirmed.
Zeliang had conveyed his inability to accept the order of NIA by citing the state's assembly session as a reason. The NIA has summoned Zeliang to appear with the mode of payment related documents that handled for funding the insurgents' groups from state funds.
According to NIA, several government departments have been utilized by zeliang for funding the insurgents through taxes and state funds, while the office is headed by him in Nagaland. The NIA has marked almost 14 departments and highlighted them for surveillance.
The NSCN is marked and highlighted terrorist organization of North East with two major teams that lead by Khaplang and Isak Chishai Swu and Thuingaleng Muviah. According to the NSCN manifesto, India's Northeast, and Northwestern, Myanmar is only for Christians. Their slogan is Nagaland for Christ.
Some reports claiming that according to T R Zeliang party members the NIA's summon was a true political Vendetta against their former Chief Minister.
