Great Fodder Scam Case Is Coming To An End After Two Decades
Bihar fodder scam is on its way for Judgement Today.
After two decades of stretching Bihar fodder scam and its acquests are coming under judgement today. The case got started against Lalu Prasad Yadhav, an important leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal Party for a fraudulent withdrawal of Rs.84.5 lakh form Deoghar District Treasury from 1991 to 1994 while he was the Chief Minister of the state.
The special CBI court of Ranchi confirmed Lalu Prasad Yadhav and 15 other convicts who involved in the scam as acquests and willing to pronounce sentence today. The case had been kept for Judgement on Wednesday but it was postponed today following the death of two lawyers. The case hearing had been completed on December 13, 1996 was under the head of Special Judge Shivpal Singh.
In the Mean time the court had thrown notices on some bigger heads. Their names are, Senior RJD leader and Party Vice President Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Yadhav (son of Lalu), senior party leader Shivanand Tiwari and Congress Spoke person Manish Tiwari. The court considers their comments on the verdict were contempt, said by Prathap Kumar, lawyer of Lalu.
While Lalu’s lawyer said they plead for minimum punishment for Lalu as he was 70 years old. The followers of RJD are also praying for the minimum sentence to their leader but the expected punishment period for Lalu will be up to three years behind the bars.
Lalu and 15 other convicts who found guilty are charged under IPC fraudulent sections and under Prevention Of Corruption Act. The Ranchi Court also acquitted one more former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra had found guilty in this scam is noted.
latest update: The judgment has been postponed once again. It will be expected on tomorrow 2 PM said the supremo’s lawyer of RJD Chittaranjan Sinha.
Latest Update: Lalu Praasad Yadhav had been sentenced to 3.5 years of jail and fined 5 lakh other 7 who were accused in the scam were also sentenced to jail up to 3-5 years.Lalu had been taken to the Birsa Munda Prison in Ranchi.
